I have always used my glasses for VR and was immediately impresses with how much clearer and convenient Reloptix inserts were. Felt like I had a screen upgrade on my VR headset as I was able to read text on the screen and see further in the distance. Very well made, easy to fit into the headset and I love not having to constantly adjust the headset or fiddle with my glasses. I felt this was a great value for all the benefits.
Installation: They are not difficult to install, but reloptix does not provide an Index specific tutorial on how to install the lenses. It took me a while, but after watching a few of their other install videos, I understood that the base was friction fitted.
Use: One of the downsides of using reloptix vs their competitors is that for the Index, you cannot really adjust the eye relief knob. It has to stay at the farthest position because of the lenses. I don't find it a hindrance as thanks to lenses I can see fine. The issue arises when I take off the lenses for others to use. They cannot adjust the eye relief as much as you normal could without removing the reloptix base. So far it hasn't really been an issue as others were able to deal with it, but it is an issue that others may want to consider when buying these lenses.
Lens: The lens are crystal clear. At first use I couldn't believe how well I was able to see in VR without any glasses or contacts. Now my contacts don't dry out and I am able to comfortably play VR for hours.
Overall these are some high quality lenses and you cannot beat the price if you require a high index lenses for a high prescription. My only gripe that I stated above isn't really that big of an issue because the removable lenses make up for it imo.
I will definitely be buying a second pair in a year if my prescription changes.
Hey Ernesto! Thank you for your review! Actually if you scan the QR code that's on the Welcome card it takes you to a installation page which contains videos of installs. If you scroll to the bottom of the page you will see the Index install video! We do recommend obtaining an after market cushion for your face since the original is pretty minimal after tightening your headset! Let us know if you come across any other 3rd party part that helps your lens experience! Thanks again!
I bought the Reloptix Valve Index and Quest 2 perception lenses. Both look great, fit well and the prescription is perfect. Love them!
I have severe nearsightedness, so my prescription is very strong at -9.25 SPH and the lenses had to be much thicker than usual. So because of this, the lenses press up against my eyes pretty badly, and I would say are almost unusable—even with the furthest lens distance setting on the Valve Index. The magnetic frames are very cool and make the lenses much easier to clean, but also add to the distance issue as it pushes the lens even closer to my eyes.
I've been able to alleviate this by simply wearing a sweatband around my forehead, which distances the headset enough that it isn't as much of an issue. (Though they tend to get smudged quicker than my other prescription VR lenses)
I will say that the visual quality is very good and better than my other lenses; having both tried VRoptician and VR lens lab for comparison, as those are the ones I've previously bought. (And have had varying barrel distortion issues with, the Reloptix lenses have had the least distortion/blurriness by far)
It's a very good product, but just be wary if you have a very strong prescription and require thicker lenses than usual.
We’re glad we have been able to help you better then other companies but sorry your having issues with the thickness of the lenses themselves. With larger prescriptions, there isn’t much we can do unfortunately to mitigate that so we usually suggest keeping the glasses spacer in provided with the headset to help separate you further from the lenses. Thanks for your support and hope we can help you in the future.
So first of all, the lenses are easy to install. Took me maybe 15 seconds. The magnets make it super easy to remove them when others want to use my headset. I would say I can only put the FOV knob on my Index 1/2 as close to my face as I used to, but there really isn’t much noticeable FOV loss. Packaging is nice as well, and the lenses stay on no matter the intensity of my games. No discomfort around my nose or anything either. All around great product that improved my VR experience significantly.
